Is there seating available?

We ask that you please bring your own chair and/or picnic blanket for seating.

Where should I park?

The stage will be set up in the museum’s parking lot. There will be some parking spots for people with accessibility needs: if you are able to walk a block or two, please park on Pembina Ave, Gregg Ave, or at Green Square!

Do I need to register or purchase a ticket to attend?

No! This is an event that is open to all – no registration or ticket required.

Are children allowed to attend?

Yes! Youth activities will also be available for children to participate in.

Are pets allowed?

Pets are allowed at any of the outdoor venues and must be leashed at all times.

Will food be served?

Light snacks and beverages will be available – please bring your own food if you would like.

Connect with your inner lumberjack at the Northern Rockies Museum! Your $10 ticket will get you unlimited axe throwing, a campfire, free hot chocolate, and access to the museum and gift shop. No pre-registration is required.

This event is perfect to drop into for a half hour or stay all afternoon. No matter what schedule you have this Saturday, make the museum part of it!

Axe throwing is for ages 8+, but bring your under 8s to enjoy the campfire and museum! Youth under the age of 18 must have a guardian present to sign a waiver.

Tania Millen is an avid outdoors person and has ridden horses for almost forty years. After learning to pack in 2010, she has ridden over 5,000 kilometres of western Canada’s wilderness trails. In 2015, Tania wrote Pack’em Up, Ride’em Out: Classic Horse Pack Trips in British Columbia and Alberta—the only guidebook for pack trips in Canada. She currently lives in Hinton, Alberta. On November 14th from 6:00-9:00 PM, join us for our Ornament Festival opening! Come to the museum to enjoy a campfire, free hot chocolate, holiday activities, and a first look at the locally created ornaments filling the museum!

The Ornament Festival will run from November 14th-27th. All ornaments are created locally, with proceeds split equally between creators and the msueum.

Aaron Jones is a Registered Professional Forester in both Alberta and BC.  He has worked in the Hinton area for the past 25 years. During this time, Aaron has been part of photo re-take projects that track how cutblocks change, grow, and reforest. This year, Aaron is re-taking photos once again and is going to share his work with us! 

One of the most astonishing findings to date is just how much a forest changes in 20 years – if you think that forests are static and only change slowly over 100s of years, come see this presentation, and you may come out of it with a different perspective
